Kyro

A brilliant new edgy band the market is gasping for breath for. Strong writing and execution that cuts right to it. (Gordon Loncaster, Virgin Radio Classic Rock).

The powerful rock/pop sound of Kyro was born in 2001 out of a number of South London rock bands, with Ian George on vocals and guitar, Matt Fairman lead guitar, Terry Blyth on bass and Chris Jarrold drums. Nic Slack joined in Jan 2003 on keys to complete the line up.

Varied musical influences such as U2, Massive Attack, Duran Duran, Radiohead, The Red Hot Chili Peppers & Nirvana led to such a distinctive sound and image that the band’s regular gigging went down a storm. Their infectious blend of melodic vocals, powerful guitar hooks and soaring synth lines, combined with an energetic visual show left audiences across the country gasping for more.

This powerful live reputation earned them a place on the UK National Music Network tour, as part of the ‘Underground Sound’, sponsored by NME and developing new UK original music talent. Summer 2003 saw them play festival dates, including a massive Earl’s Court gig, before they turned their attention to recording their first album, Day In, released in 2004.

Kyro signed a publishing deal with US Publisher Farm Street Music in late 2004 and so far have written the title and end tracks for the new Dolph Lundgren / Jerry Springer film, The Defender, as well as 10 tracks for the new Rachel Leigh Cook film, My First Wedding. More recently they had one of their tracks placed in the very successful Ewan McGregor documentary, Long Way Round that featured on Sky 1 in the UK and Bravo in the US.
